4wd Tyre Choices

Post by oldschoolrc10 »

For those new to the hobby we advise the following tyre choices to get you started, our Glasgow club track is Astro:

We prefer the Cheater foams from the club shop for the rear tyres. Be aware that some races at other clubs only allow a certain 'control' tyre. Always check first!

Astro - Dry
  • Rear - Schumacher Mezzo (Yellow) - U6885
  • Rear - Proline Pyramid (Z3 or the newer CR3) - PRO8267303 (Many times longer lifespan than other brands)
  • Front - Schumacher Mezzo (Yellow) - U
  • Front - Proline Pyramid (Z3 or the newer CR3) - PL8272-103 (Many times longer lifespan than other brands)
Astro - Wet
  • Rear - Ballistic Buggy Minispike (Green) - BBT01 - (These are the best all round rears in the wet)
  • Rear - Schumacher Mezzo (Silver) - U6886 (but only in slightly damp)
  • Front - Ballistic Buggy Minispike (Green) - BB
  • Front - Schumacher Mezzo (Silver) - U
  • Front - Proline Pyramid (Z3 or the newer CR3) - PL8272-103 (Many times longer lifespan than other brands)
